Queen Salote Memorial Hall, named in honour of the much-loved monarch, is one of the great gathering places in Nuku’alofa, Tonga’s capital. It is a large barrel-vaulted structure with glue-laminated arches spanning nearly 30 metres, built to be cyclone-resistant but still very attractive.
