"Our key concept was to provide a sense of ‘New Zealandness’ to Trade Me's Wellington fit out; a kind of eclectic collection of objects, materials, textures and finishes, but combined in a legible, cohesive whole. This approach is, in some respects, a reflection of the collection of companies that come under the Trade Me umbrella.
This new work environment could also be seen or interpreted as a type of ‘Virtual Warehouse’ (not the red shed type!); where a collection of objects are housed, and the materials, textures and finishes subtly reflect that type of environment.
Another key inspiration to our concept is the catch phrase 'Take it outside'. This seems entirely appropriate to New Zealanders in their work environment - creating a blurring between inside and outside, work and play.
Introducing a degree of ambiguity between these realms is something that we have explored with this fitout."
